Common item attributes

There are no common attributes for all items.

Many items (i.e. it-vortex) allow to set the attribute name. Possible values for this attribute are all strings. Default is an empty string "". You can get a reference on named objects by calling the function enigma.GetNamedObject

Technical items

There are some technical items for Enigma-internal use only. Do not use them in your level.

Such items are marked as Internal system-item on this page.

it-abyss

An invisible abyss. Every floor tile can become an abyss with this item. Stones like st-wood can't fill an it-abyss. It is still possible to jump over this abyss using a spring.

it-bag

When you roll over an item with the bag as the first item in your inventory, the item is put into the bag. A bag can be filled with up to 13 items. When the bag is deposited, the inventory is filled with the bag's content. When there are more items in the bag than there is space in your inventory, some items remain in the bag.

When thieves (fl-thief or fl-thief) are captured by a horse (st-chess), the thief leaves behind a bag with stolen items.

it-banana

Can be converted into it-cherry by a laser. When a box is moved over the banana, it-squashed remains.

it-blackbomb

This item can't be picked up. It can be obtained from a bomb stone (st-bombs). Bombs can be ignited by an explosion on the neighbour field, by a laser beam or when a box is moved over it.

When a bolder stone (st-bolder) moves over this item, the item becomes a (st-blocker). It can be destroyed with a it-brake

  • open, close: Grow respectively shrink.

  • signal: 1 = grow, 0 = shrink;

it-booze

After picking up the bottle and releasing it again, the marble will be drunk. This means, it doesn't obey your mouse as good as it normally does, it will be slow and lurching. This behaviour can be used in meditation levels to change the constellation of the small white balls. When this item is put onto a stone, it leaves back a broken bottle (it-booze-broken).

A broken bottle (it-booze). This bottle is deadly for all balls which are not protected by an umbrella (it-umbrella). It is possible to jump over a broken bottle, you can even remove the bottle with a brush (it-brush) while flying.

A portable st-brake: Obstacle for moved boxes, volcano stones (st-volcano), bolder stones (st-bolder) and fire (it-burnable_burning). A laser can destroy the item (which is technically seen a stone). Info: In Enigma 1.1 this item will be renamed it_brake.

st-yinyang3 can be converted to st-yinyang1 with a brush. Also a brush can convert st-firebreak[_movable] to st-plain[_movable].

it-burnable

Ash is normally the result of a fire and is not burnable.

A burning fire, destroying all marbles. The marble can protect itself with a extinguisher (it-extinguisher). The fire leaves back ash (it-burnable_ash), which is not burnable.

it-burnable_fireproof

The fireproof substance which comes out of the fire extinguisher (it-extinguisher).

it-burnable_ignited

A young fire.

it-burnable_oil

A puddle of oil which is easily inflammable, it starts burning for example, when there is an explosion on a neighbour field.

it-changefloor

Replaces fl-acblack with fl-acwhite (and vice versa), after the corresponding marble has left the field. This behaviour can be used to build some kind of oneway street.

it-cherry

Makes the marble invisible. Invisible balls are ignored by ac-rotor and ac-top in addition, they can walk through (st-glass). If a block is moved over the item, the item becomes dirt (it-squashed).

it-coffee

In Oxyd®, you could take a break with this item. During the break, you could analyse the whole level stresslessly. In Enigma, the cup does not have any special properties yet.

Coins can be used to feed st-coinslot. When a box is moved over this coin, it becomes a it-coin2. A laser beam converts this coin in an umbrella (it-umbrella)

  • value: Determines how long (in seconds) a coinslot (st-coinslot) is active, when feeded with this coin. Default: 3.0

Coins can be used to feed st-coinslot. When a box is moved over this coin, it becomes a it-coin4. A laser beam converts this coin in a hammer (it-hammer), which becomes a sword (it-sword), when lasered again.

  • value: Determines how long (in seconds) a coinslot (st-coinslot) is active, when feeded with this coin. Default: 6.0

it-coin4

Coins can be used to feed st-coinslot. A laser beam converts this coin in an extralife (it-extralife), which become glasses (it-glasses), when lasered again.

  • value: Determines how long (in seconds) a coinslot (st-coinslot) is active, when feeded with this coin. Default: 12.0

it-crack

A floor tile with cracks becomes abyss (fl-abyss), when the marble rolls over it too much. The attribute type determines, how often the marble may pass the cracked floor, bevore it disappears:

  • type=0: 3x, No cracks visible
  • type=1: 3x, small cracks
  • type=2: 2x, medium cracked
  • type=3: 1x, large cracks

Info: In Enigma 1.1 this item will be renamed it_crack.

Attribute

  • type: 0, 1, 2, or 3.
  • fixed: 0 = further cracks are possible, 1 = no further cracks;
  • brittleness: Overwrites enigma.Brittleness.

it-cross

Marks an important place. The cross can be drawn with a pencil (it-pencil) and removed with a brush (it-brush). When a Marble remains at least 10 seconds on a cross, an action-target pair is executed. (This happens only once, not every ten seconds)

it-death

A marble which rolls or jumps over this item is killed. This item can't be removed, the marble can protect itself with an umbrella (it-umbrella).

A text document with a message for the player. Can be used to give hints. The document is destroyed by nearby explosions and lasers.

The marble becomes an ac-rotor for five seconds.

it-dynamite

Can be ignited by nearby explosions or laser beams. Dynamite explodes when the fuse is burned down. Useful to ignite bombs (it-blackbomb/it-whitebomb). The explosion leaves back a hollow (it-hollow).

it-extinguisher[{_empty,_medium}]

The fire extinguisher fills, if it is not empty, an area with a fireproof substance (it-burnable_fireproof).

  • it-extinguisher (Green top): The extinguisher is full, it can be used twice: The first use covers a rhomb which is five fields high, the second use covers a rhomb of only three fields height.
  • it-extinguisher_medium (Yellow top): Covers a rhomb of three fields height.
  • it-extinguisher (Red top): Empty and useless.

it-extralife

Can be used as additional life after the marble was destroyed or as a canonball in st-spitter. A laser turns this item into glasses (it-glasses).

it-flagblack

When the black ball is destroyed, after the flag was set, the ball is reborn on the field where the black flag was set.

it-floppy

Is used to activate floppy switches (st-floppy). In contrast to keys (it-key), an it-floppy fits every st-floppy. There are no keycodes.

it-glasses

When you wear these glasses, fake-stones will disappear. Therefore, hidden killstones (st-death_invisible) are visible to you.

When a box is moved over glasses, the glasses break (it-glasses-broken). Glasses can be made out of an extralife it-extralife with a laser.

Broken glasses emerge from glasses it-glasses, when a box is moved over them. The only purpose of broken glasses is to block lasers with it).

A hammer can destroy the following stones:

A hammer can be emerged from a it-coin2 and from a sword (it-sword) using a laser beam. It becomes a sword (it-sword), when beamed with a laser.

it-hill

A hill can be smoothed with a spade (it-spade) or by moving a box over it. Info: In Enigma 1.1 this item will be renamed it_meditation_hill.

  • essential: If essential = 1, the hollow has to be occupied by a small white ball to complete the level. This attribute is used in meditation levels.

A narrow horizontal path, which can lead over abyss or water.

Landmines are not very healthy for an marble that steps on it. After exploding, the landmine leaves back a hollow (it-hollow).

An active magnet attracts the marbles.

  • strength: Magnetic force. Can be set globally in enigma.MagnetForce. Default: 30.0
  • range: Can be set globally in enigma.MagnetRange. Default: 1000.0, which is infinite enough for all practical problems ;-)

it-odometer

The odometer does not have any special properties in Enigma.
In Oxyd®, the actual mouse speed and the covered distance can be displayed with this item.

it-pencil

Can draw one single cross (it-cross) on the floor. If used on ice, the pencil wil make cracks (it-crack1) instead of a cross. There are some more floors which do not allow to be marked. Furthermore, the item can be used to mark a st-plain[_move] as burnable (st-firebreak[_movable]). The item can be released while jumping.

it-pin

Increases the friction. Very useful on ice.

it-pipe-{e,es,h,n,ne,s,sw,v,w,wn}

Pipes can be combined to pipelines, which can transport items. See st-mail.

Naming: h = horizontal, v = vertical; rest: orientation of the connections. The four dead end pipes are used to close the pipeline. Pipelines may be destroyed by explosions.

it-pizza

it-puller-{n,e,s,w}

If a puller is released next to a box, so that it points away from the box, the box is pulled onto the arrow. After doing their job, pullers explode and may thereby destroy the marble. If no pullable stone is located on the corresponding field, the puller explodes only.

In single player mode, the marble is transferred to the start position respectively the flag position (see it-flagblack). In two player mode, the two marbles swap places with each other.

Connects an actor with an other actor or a stone. If the target does not exist, the item is released.

  • target: The name of the object (actor or stone) to be connected. The object has to be named (attribute name) bevore.
  • length: Normal length of the rubberband. Default: 1.
  • strength: Default 10
  • minlength: Minimal length of the rubberband. Default: 0.
  • scissor: true = remove all other existing rubberbands from the actor, false = keep existing rubber bands. Default: false.

A spade can smooth hollows (it-hollow, it-tinyhollow) and hills (it-hill, it-tinyhill).

it-spoon

The spoon is used to commit suicide. (In German, the colloquial expression «Den Löffel abgeben» (to give off the spoon) means «to die»). If you want to give off the spoon, but not your live, you can throw it into a mailbox (st-mail), or give it to a thief (which may cause you to lose other items first).

it-spring1

The spring enables the Marble to jump over abysses, water, switches and so on. It is not possible to jump through a grate (st-grate1).

Like it-spring1, but the spring is left back at takeoff. (only if there isn't any object already!!!(Robbery, Enigma IV, #27))

A marble jumps when it rolls over a springboard. It is not possible to jump through a grate (st-grate1).

Dirt, which remains, after a box was pushed over it-banana or it-cherry. Sedulous housewives may remove it with a it-brush.

essential: If essential = 1, the hollow has to be occupied by a small white ball to complete the level. This attribute is used in meditation levels.

A trigger executes its action-target pair every time an actor enters or exits the field.

it-umbrella

Makes the marble invulnerable and thief-resistant for 10 seconds. The umbrella can be made from it-coin1 with a laser. Laser beams destroy this item.

it-vortex-{closed,open}

When the marble gets into a vortex, it is teleported to another place. If there is a vortex too, the jumps off this vortex and may exit it. But if the second Vortex is blocked by a box, the marble gets back to its start vortex. A closed vortex can't be entered or exited. If more than one target is given, the marble is teleported to the first unblocked target.

  • targety: y-coordinates of the target
  • autoclose: Close the vortex automatically. Not implemented yet!

it-vstrip

A narrow vertical path, which can lead over abyss or water.

it-weight

Increases the mass of the Marble, decreases thereby the mouse factor. This results in a inert control. To get rid of a stone, you have to throw it into a mailbox (st-mail) or let it steal by a thief (who may steal other items too).

it-whitebomb

The white bombs can't be picked up. In future versions of Enigma, there will be a white bomb stone (see st-bombs) where white bombs may be obtained.

White bombs cause more damage than black bombs (it-blackbomb): They bomb a hole, which is 3 x 3 fields tall. They may be ignited by a nearby explosion, by lasers or by a box which is pushed over them.

it-wormhole[-off]

A wormhole transfers a marble from one place to another. After the transport, the wormhole is inactive for a while.
it-wormhole-off creates an inactive wormhole.

  • targety: y-coordinates of the target.
  • range: Can be set globally in enigma.WormholeRange. Default: unknown
